In the ongoing legal case in Mercer County Superior Court, plaintiffs are pressing a motion to compel depositions from defendants, including the Mercer County Board of Elections and various election officials, regarding alleged violations of their voting rights during the 2022 General Election. The plaintiffs contend that the defendants have intentionally delayed appearing for depositions and have provided no alternative scheduling, causing considerable case delays.

New Jersey’s June 10, 2025, gubernatorial primary featured the first statewide election held without the traditional party-line ballot design, producing a competitive race on the Democratic side and a blowout win on the Republican side. On the Democratic side, U.S. Representative Mikie Sherrill prevailed, claiming approximately 34–35% of the vote, well ahead of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and other challengers. On the Republican side, former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli secured a strong victory with about 67% of the GOP vote, ensuring a return to the general election stage after his 2021 campaign against Governor Phil Murphy.

Mark Demo, co-founder of Citizens for NJ Election Integrity, has filed a lawsuit against Cherry Hill Township and its Records Custodian, Patti Chacker, alleging violations of the New Jersey Open Public Records Act (OPRA). The central issue is the township's refusal to provide access to surveillance video footage from ballot drop boxes used during the 2024 General Election.

The flagged issues, uncovered through meticulous analysis, reveal cases of deceased voters casting ballots and individual voters casting more than one ballot

Mercer County has made strides in improving its voting process as evident during this past election cycle, earning positive comments from citizens for its early and mail-in voting transparency, preparedness, and public engagement. However, accounts from actual voters across the county highlight lingering issues that must be addressed to ensure continued improvement and a smooth experience for all.

As of October 27, 2024, New Jersey has received 611,030 mail in ballots while voters have cast 247,002 in person Early ballots.

The lawsuit focuses on equipment malfunctions, improper use of provisional ballots, and alleged failures by poll workers and election officials, all of which the plaintiffs claim undermined the integrity of the elections and violated their constitutional rights.

Today in Trenton, the Superior Court of NJ ruled in favor of ten Mercer County residents who are suing the Board of Elections for failing to follow the Constitution and Title 19 (New Jersey's election laws)

Hamilton, NJ: 85 concerned citizens, former legislators, candidates for election and county election workers from across the state of New Jersey attended the first Citizens for NJ Election Integrity (C4NJEI) conference on June 25th at the Hilton Garden Inn in Hamilton NJ.

Pennington, NJ – In the last update we noted that Judge Lougy indicated that he would rule on the Austin OPRA case during the week of June 3rd. As of the date of this article, no decision has yet been rendered.

On May 28th, Governor Murphy appeared on News 12's, Ask the Governor. The governor was asked a question by Wake Up NJ about why isn't there voter ID in NJ. After saying he doesn't think voter ID should be required to cast a vote in NJ, he explained, "the chances are significantly, meaningfully, higher that either you or I will be hit by lightning than we will find voter fraud."

Transparency and trust in government by consent are being undermined. As a group of concerned New Jersey citizens, Citizens for New Jersey Election Integrity, we are regularly requesting election data of all 21 counties through the state's Open Public Records Act. One county, Atlantic County stands out as the most egregious refuser to share election data.

Supported by Citizens for New Jersey Election Integrity, ten Mercer County, NJ citizens filed a lawsuit in Superior Court on February 14th which contains hundreds of evidentiary facts covering the 2022 and 2023 elections. Most notably, in 2022, no machines functioned at all on election day. The cause was due to machine vendor Dominion Voting Systems failing to recode ballot ids after a ballot layout change by the County. Just as alarming, the County hid this from the public, and it only came to light when the public demanded a hearing with all the parties involved to explain.

Senator Andrew Zwicker, a scientist, educator and public servant who represents the 16th District in the New Jersey Senate as a Democrat, has introduced a bill in the New Jersey Legislature to alter the process of registering voters during their interactions with the Motor Vehicle Commission. Unless a person affirmatively declines voter registration, he/she will be processed as registering to vote, without capturing a signature, which is currently used for voter identity verification at polling stations and for mail-in ballots, and for a legally binding attestation of US citizenship and eligibility to vote.

House Speaker Mike Johnson announced legislation to require proof of citizenship to vote. While both the US and NJ constitution mandate that voters be US citizens, here in NJ there is no verification of citizenship either by State or County Election Boards or by the Motor Vehicle Commission. A person need only check a box on a registration form to attest their citizenship. Citizens for NJ Election Integrity has spoken directly with County Election Supervisors to confirm they have no way to verify citizenship, and the State has replied to an OPRA request for verification process documentation that there are no responsive records.

In response to the proposal of the bill in Congress to mandate verification of US citizenship in order to vote, the statement "no significant evidence has been found of non-citizens registering to vote" has repeated in synchrony in traditional media. The Public Interest Legal Foundation conducted a limited sample size, physical survey in NJ in 2017 and found hundreds of resident non-citizens admitting they registered and/or voted.

This week we attended the Middlesex County, NJ Board of Elections meeting and asked questions such as what is the backup plan if all voting or pollbook machines become inoperable due to an attack the FBI and DHS are warning about? The answer came back: paper ballots, human adjudicated, then machine tabulated. Perhaps a C+ grade.
